60" EPP pylon

After the F3F the coarse was shortened to 80m for a spot of friendly 60" EPP pylon racing. Three up at time made for some interesting racing and some very close racing at times. A few heat were flown with Dave Rumble topping the tree then a knockout which saw Dave Loomes take pole position with the calculations of the two scores Dave Rumble just pipped Dave Loomes by 2 points. Many thanks to Steve Clutterbuck for organising the pylon racing.

Combat

Everyone arrived by 9:30 and was welcomed by a 50mph plus winds on the VR slope. The coarse was set up, a quick briefing and things were on the go. Two groups of 7 flew 4 rounds a piece. With the high winds the planes were covering a lot of ground and keeping the planes grouped was proving differcult, Dave Loomes took a wind reading between rounds and recorded a constant 70mph, gusting to 86mph in the compression. The wind dropped slightly for a couple of the later rounds and then the hits and kill started to come. The final "best of the best" round was flown with 10 pilots and with the increased number of planes in the air the hits and kills came thick and fast. The two runners up were first time SWSA combatter Craig Hancock and Matt Stubbs (who was also a runner up last time) and taking pole position and a nice new Duck kit was Shane Biddlecombe, well done Shane for doing the double, winning the 60" F3F and combat all in one weekend.
