What a weekend, Saturday morning everyone arrived at the Bwlch bright and early to be greeted by a nice westerly blow so everyone made thier way to the west side of Mickeys where the coarse was set up for the F3F. Although the wind was consistant it occasional went crossed and the odd thermal also had an influance but over the 6 rounds flown everyone had thier mix of air. FTD was a 43:40 by Mike Young which helped him to take the first place followed by Shane Biddlecombe in second and Mike Evans in third. After the F3F the coarse was shortened for the 60"EPP pylon racing (should be renamed high speed carnage). John Davies, Shane Biddlecombe, Matt Brett and Mike Evans were the final four with John Davies winning every one of his heats and the final.
Sunday the winds were good but this time in the NNW direction so everyone headed for the VR98 slope. The groups were quickly assembled, frequancies sorted and coarse set. Each pilot flew a number of rounds with numerous big hits which resulted in plane confetti :) between each round there had to be repair time allowed as so many planes were getting in on the action. There was the usual English/Welsh banter going back and forth with the never ending one liners coming from CD Aldwyn, "intercourse", "A$$holes at 10 o'clock", " I can get my back door through there" spring to mind, a very enjoyable experiance . Once the combat was over all the combat planes were launched 24 in total, 2 were carrying streamers for the rest to chase, then a little Irvine Pixie was launched amongst the combat wings....it didnt last too long :). The afternoon was slots for mouldies and foamie with foamie limbo on the side.
A couple of highlights of the weekend were (for myself) winning the F3F with a homebrew mouldie, Tim's new EPP Sniper very impressive, two moulded Snipers ripping up the sky and Aldwyn keeping everyone entertained "Get 'em down lads".
