Ken Phillips was one of the founding members of the SWSA. He was a truly great natural pilot who could turn his hand to anything, F3F, pylon, PSS, scale, power. He even mastered helicopters during his treatment for cancer. Sadly Ken lost his fight and passed away in May 2005. In his memory the SWSA run a monthly F3F league so that club members can compete for the Ken Phillips Trophy.
